When a child is born, it is the most precious gift imaginable. Not only is the child a gift, but the child is of immense value, unique, and made in the image of God. At that early age, it would be unimaginable that we could allow this precious life to go astray, and it is natural for us to do all in our power to ensure the child’s well-being and that he or she can achieve happiness, both in this life and the next.
At school we are educated in the arts, the sciences and humanities, but not in the practical aspects of how to raise a child. We learn this from our parents. However, much of a parent’s thinking is unseen by us, especially when we are young, and we simply take our upbringing for granted. So how can we know if we are raising our children in the best possible way? How do we know if our thinking is right? All too often we discover what we should have done when it is far too late and difficult to rectify.
The FDF, as the UK affiliate of the International Federation for Family Development (IFFD), provides the resources to ensure that we can raise our children in the best possible way, enriching their lives and proving a solid grounding to enable them to lead happy and meaningful lives.
